Our car got broken into last night and they stole a bunch of stuff but luckily we got some back. This was in with the stuff we got though it’s not for anything I own. Anyone know what it might be from?

That matches the key to our old 02 Dodge Grand Caravan, so any Jeep model with an overlapping generation would probably have that key.

Looks identical to my JK Wrangler key.

They used that as their transponder / non-fob integrated key for a bunch of different Jeep/Dodge/Chrysler keys (that being for a Jeep obviously) but for 10+ years. Wouldn’t be surprised if you bought a 200c and got one of those today.

My 2000 Wrangler had a key exactly like that. Jeep name on one side, Chrysler emblem on the other.

Its an immobilizer “chip” key. They started using them in the late 90's and still use them today on base models without power locks/keyless entry.

Defs a turn-of the century Chrysler co product. My 2002 Neon had the same key. The grey rubber handle (as opposed to black) should mean it’s chipped. Hopefully the perp doesn’t have a spare and now can’t drive their car :)

Maybe shaved enough to jimmy the locks/ignition?

The key part itself is the just the standard GM double-sided key, that they used in the Saginaw columns, starting in around 1990 up until they quit using them.. Which I’m not sure they did... or at least they’ve continued using that key shape for quite a while.
As far as the head of the key goes, I would guess at late 90's or early 2000's.

Yeah, looks the same as my ‘07 Wrangler’s key. Crank windows and power locks. My key also opened the doors of, but wouldn’t start a 2004 Dodge truck at work.

XJ’s started using those in 1999 as an option. WJ/TJ/KJ also used them and JK is the only current user of them now.
